As I posted in my last post, self care was a critical part of my healing journey. I recognized that I had a pattern of gaining weight during the winter months which tend to be a triggering time for me because of the grief. While I love the holidays and my birthday they aren’t always joyous. I would mask the emotions that accompany that time of year with comfort eating. Fortunately, I was able to lose the weight by the spring each year, but with self care and lots of conscious work I was able to break the cycle by recognizing the WHY behind the overeating and allow myself to release the emotions that triggered it.
