Mi Primo

Last night I had the opportunity to meet with a primo of mine (and his awesome wife and daughter)! I connected with him through a Colombian Adoptee group on Facebook and confirmed through a DNA match.
Aaron and I first met in person in July of 2018, right before I made my trip back Colombia for the first time since I was a baby.  Aaron had already been back to Colombia and was able to share his journey/story with me and the other travelers.  He gave us some advice on what to expect, how to take it all in, and what to expect when we got back.  I am forever grateful for the time we got to spend together and to connect with one another.
Last night over dinner we both shared how important it is for adoptees to connect and build relationships with other fellow adoptees.  Especially if it is with adoptees of the same origin  country or similar experience.
For my fellow Colombian adoptees I cannot recommend highly enough for you to read “Decoding our Origins: The lived Experiences of Colombian Adoptees”. It’s a compilation of life experiences from fellow Colombian Adoptees.
